August 2023 Newsletter

Dear Readers,

How was your Month of August?

At We-are-HR we have had a busy month of Workcations.

What is a Workcation?

A workcation is when you are able to maintain your work commitments while enjoying a change of environment and the benefits of travel. Workcations gained popularity during COVID as remote work became more prevalent and people sought ways to break the monotony of working from home.

We had Muaaz our Business Development Executive spending time and working from Greece. We had Rekha our Business Support Executive

spending time and working from Crete.

Lastly myself Working from Kos and Austria.

We are all fortunate to have the opportunity to take our jobs abroad and to benefit from a workcation whist continuing to work and collaborate with each other!

We also introduced a new member of the We-are-HR family. Please welcome our Digital Marketing Executive Ashish.

He has been creatively designing our posts managing our social media platforms and thinking outside the box when it comes to innovatively selling our CIPD and Solutions.

Over August we all took time away from the normal everyday duties to collaborate and discuss what improvements needed to be made through our annual Learner Survey. It’s clear that our learners feel happy and supported throughout their studies at our centre which is our key goal!

However, some learners have expressed an interest in completing the programmes at a faster pace and through a blended approach.

As a centre we always listen and adapt to our learner needs and as such we have launched our first Fast track CIPD Blended learning programme, this consists of a unit a month every 6 weeks and Tutor support upon request.

Our next date for Level 7 Fast-Track cohort

21st October

Over the Summer we also been focussing on the theme of Inclusivity with the focus on the lack of employers who are willing to recognise oversees work experience and the benefits that foreign experience can bring to organisations.

We interviewed a few of our learners to discuss this topic and our key findings were:

  • – Foreign work experience is not recognised in the UK
  • – Foreign workers face barriers getting into work in the UK due to limited or no UK work experience.
  • – Foreign workers are facing discrimination entering the UK workforce.

It is clear that more needs to be done to become more inclusive as a country especially when we recognise as argued by (Harvey, 2013) that foreign talent and international work experience bring many benefits to an economy and to the employers. The greatest benefit of recruiting immigrants and foreign individuals is that it brings cultural diversity and external experiences to a corporation (Kapoor, C. 2011).

On the solutions side of the business, we have been busy delivering training in the area of Diversity, Inclusion and Inclusive leadership practices. After great success from a few clients, we recognise that this area is continuing to grow in demand within many organisations.

If you are a growing organisation and you require more clarity around Diversity and Inclusion and you are keen to upskill managers on inclusive leadership practices. We can certainly assist with clarity around what needs to be done and through setting some clear frameworks for success. Please do not hesitate to make contract! I’d welcome a chat!
