Overview of Qualification

Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a teaching qualification, that requires a minimum of 100 hours of teaching practice and a minimum of 8 teaching observations that total a minimum of 8 hours. It is for those learners who currently work or want to work as further education teachers. Colleges of further education and many other sector employers are likely to require this level of qualification or at least a commitment to gain this upon employment.

Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is for:

• individuals who are not currently teaching and training but who can meet the practice requirements of the qualification;
• individuals who are currently teaching and training (including those who have just begun teaching and training) who can meet the practice requirements of the qualification;
• individuals who are currently working as assessors and who wish to achieve a teaching qualification who can meet the practice requirements of the qualification.
