The We-are-HR February 2025 Newsletter

Dear Readers,

How was your February?

February has been a whirlwind! We’ve been busy showing love to our clients by helping them recruit for some exciting HR Operational and HR Internship recruitment positions – a fantastic way to kick off the year!

As a small business, we are keen to support our learners studying on our programmes to develop and grow and to excel after completing a CIPD or a CMI qualification. We firmly believe that your HR, Leadership or Management Career is just beginning!

Our CMI Programme launched with a bang and our learners have been fully engaged in the interactive live-online sessions, thought-provoking group discussions, and real-world applications of their learning. It’s inspiring to see so many learners applying their newfound knowledge directly in their organizations – exactly what we’re here for!

🗣️ Here’s what some of our learners had to say:

  –  “Really engaging sessions!”

  –  “I like discussing what is happening in the organisation and applying some of the theory to real-life situations.”

Keep up the fantastic work – your HR, Leadership, or Management career is just getting started, and we can’t wait to see you thrive!

Monthly Webinar Insights

This month’s webinar tackled an incredibly important topic – Managing Trauma in the Workplace. Our amazing guest speaker, Pinky Jangra, a well-known resilience & wellbeing speaker & trainer, delivered a breathtaking session that left a lasting impact.

Unfortunately, our original host, Natasia Hieber, couldn’t make it, but thanks to the brilliant Keith F. Watson, who stepped in at the last minute, the session ran smoothly. Keith described the webinar as “refreshing and powerful“, emphasising the importance of openly addressing workplace trauma.

In today’s fast-paced world, creating a culture where employees feel safe, heard, and supported is essential. Tackling mental health stigma is crucial, and we are proud to promote that message.

In case you missed it or want to revisit key points, here’s a quick recap of the major takeaways:

  • Traumatic events can be acute, chronic, and complex and can happen in adulthood and childhood.
  • Childhood trauma shapes who we become as adults, with 50% of adults experiencing a traumatic childhood event.
  • Trauma is how we internalise and cope with traumatic experiences. and unresolved trauma drives unhealthy behaviours at work.
  • These can create cycles of new traumas in the workplace and affect overall workplace performance and culture.
  • Creating a trauma-informed workplace requires empowering individuals and leaders and creating the right culture.

Some of the amazing feedback we received for the webinars:

‘Thank you so much Pinky! This was a fantastic webinar and a great topic you covered. You are a great speaker by the way 😊

‘Thank You very much for Your time and knowledge sharing.’ – Michal Stankowski

Poll Results

In our recent LinkedIn poll exploring the hidden costs of workplace trauma, we invited our community to reflect on how this often-overlooked issue impacts their professional lives. The results were both insightful and revealing:

  • Workplace trauma is widespread: no one reported being immune. This highlights the urgent need for organisations to foster safe, supportive environments.
  • Emotional tolls are significant: silent burnout and fading confidence can quietly diminish employee well-being and performance.
  • Creativity suffers: organisations should actively nurture psychological safety to empower employees to innovate without fear.

Acknowledging these hidden costs is the first step toward meaningful change. Employers must prioritise mental well-being by promoting open communication, offering resources for emotional support, and fostering a culture that values psychological safety.
