How was your Month of June?
At We-are-HR we have been busy with our focus on continuous development. As a small business, we understand the need to constantly be improving our services to our customers and clients.
With this in mind, I attended the CIPD festival of work, where I met the lovely Rachel Austin and Eva Phillips. They have both set-up their companies with a key focus on helping businesses get the best from their employees. It was wonderful to catch-up with them, to hear and share news, and to also network with other HR professionals whilst listening to some keynote speakers.
One of my key takeaways was the speech by Kenya King CBE. She has played a pivotal role in raising the profile of black music across the UK. She spoke about her challenges in setting
up her business and with driving her passion, and believing so much in what she was trying to achieve that she re-mortgaged her house to fund the production of the first MOBO Awards which successfully orchestrated its first broadcast in just six weeks. This is testament to the belief that when you put your mind to something, you can truly achieve outstanding results!
I respected her key role model and mentor in her life as being her mother, as despite her mother not being 100% behind her vision, she supported her daughter to try to achieve her goal. Sometimes you will not get everyone to understand your vision, and you need to understand that this is ok. You just need to ensure to stay focused to follow your dream and achieve your goal.
We-are-HR are very happy to be supporting BWHR in their first face-to-face mentorship networking event on the 9th August In London. BWHR have supported 80 HR professionals from diverse backgrounds to achieve their best and to grow their careers within the challenging HR profession.

Continuing with the theme of improvement We-are-HR attended the Atomicon Event in Newcastle.
And we were in awe of the beautiful historical city, with lots of winding steps.
It was refreshing to visit and no-doubt exhausting ourselves with the networking and connecting to other likeminded professionals, it was lovely to have bumped into Nikki Masterman, Karen Cureton and Vicky Santon I have all used your services in some shape or form and highly respect what you are all doing! It’s great to see that you are also very keen to “break the mould” as highlighted by Frank Dick in our Motivational Strategies webinar!
The event kicked off with an opening speech from Joe Wicks who spoke about finding work in his passion and his belief in helping others. It was also refreshing to listen to him speak about his values in business, wanting his employees to enjoy working for him, so he takes engagement very seriously!
We were intrigued by the Mark Wright the former Apprentice Winner, who reminded us that the average sales and marketing budget is 11% of Annual Turnover. This highlighted to us as a business how much more we need to invest in our marketing strategy!
From these key trends, we quickly realised as a business that there is a lot of work to be done to strive, and continue improving, and reach more customers who recognise our values and appreciate a quality service.
On that note, we have received another amazing testimony!
“Our senior and management team have been doing a 2 day Diversity and Inclusion Workshop. So informative, and I highly recommend! Thank you, We-are-HR!”
