How was your June?

 
Ours was buzzing with laughter, teamwork, and a touch of healthy competition!
 
June brought sunshine and smiles to We-are-HR as we gathered for our annual summer company event (check out the invite!).

The highlight? Quiz Boxing! 🥊🧠

 
Four teams went head-to-head in a battle of brains, taking on rounds of music, sport, and general knowledge questions. Let’s just say… some secret superstars were revealed, and a few of us had to graciously (and dramatically) accept defeat.
 
A brilliant way to connect, compete, and create memories!

Later in the evening, we tucked into a delicious Indian dinner at Chai Thali and this time, we made sure the curry wasn’t too fiery for our fabulous Trainer Coach/Assessor, Mary Saaskian! At our last event, Mary was famously advised to “pair the spice with milk!” so we took no chances.

As a growing SME, we have always been true to our vision, which is centred on building diversity in the HR profession, supporting well-being, and driving future development. This vision is not just aspirational; it shapes every facet of our people strategy and is embedded in our long-term organisational goals.
 
One of these goals is to embed well-being and CPD into our people practices. We have trained our Learner Support team to become Mental Health First Aiders, and we have appointed a qualified therapist as our Well-being Lead. We have formalised CPD by introducing a policy allowing all employees time off for personal development, and we have sponsored several employees through Level 7 CMI in Strategic Management and the Level 5 Education and Training qualifications.

These investments in our talent have resulted in a direct impact on our team satisfaction scores, which have improved by 24% year-on-year (internal staff survey). 

Alongside this, employee retention has increased by 17% over the past 18 months. More importantly, we are seeing a mindset shift where CPD is now seen not as optional, but as a shared responsibility. Our team is more confident, self-directed, and better able to contribute to service delivery and innovation. This is long-term value in action and cultural change, which will continue to drive excellence and resilience, and our customers and clients will continue to benefit from this.
