Having worked in the field of Quality in many different roles in every type of provision, over very many years, I am very conscious of the wide variation in quality systems and processes and the way they are delivered and quality assured.
I used to wish that Providers of Training had been set up properly and fully from the start before the delivery of a learning programme(s) commenced. Generally, the opposite tended to be true i.e. we will get on with setting up and delivering the qualification(s) first and then consider the Quality measures to be applied/undertaken later. That is the mistake so many Providers make.
Imagine my absolute delight when I was approached by the Managing Director and asked to help set-up a new Training Provider Company, on behalf of We-are-HR, where the Managing Director’s first comments were ‘I am purely and wholly interested in setting up and implementing everything in a Quality manner, right from the start to the end of the Learner Journey. How refreshing and forward-thinking. How could I refuse such an opportunity?
Natasia Hieber, the Managing Director, has been true to her word. Sufficient time has been allocated to set up the Systems, Processes, Policies and Procedures, before going Live.
Where Quality is at the very heart of a Training Provider business, the organisation works well and delivers well. The Provider operates in a quality manner because they know what needs doing and the reasons for doing it and they also know that missing any aspect of the system could potentially put the business at risk. The possibility of risk to the business is much higher when steps in the process are overlooked or missed altogether. Risk to the business will be avoided where the quality system is constantly checked and monitored.
When everything required concerning Quality is already in place, it avoids chasing around trying to put things in place very late in the day. When the quality elements are implemented as an after-thought or at the last minute, quality invariably suffers. It is often the case of just getting this done to get it out of the way, not doing it because it protects the business and ensures that the business prospers as a consequence.
If everything is in place before you start, it is straightforward to complete documentation and meet the requirements of Awarding Organisations and other Quality and Inspection Agencies.
